Springers are usually active and dynamic dogs and this breed demands the energy and joy of life also from the owner family. The environment can be almost any kind, city or countryside. Most important is the springer gets enough exercise (enough activity). Springer is always ready to go for a walk with you outside, raining or not and not depended what's the time. It also does not care if the walk is done frequently or if the walk takes many many kilometres. Actually springer just enjoys longer walks. (most important is they get regular exercise so that the state of activity is stable). But we all know also dogs are individuals and this means some of them are more active than the other (some of springers may be even lazy especially when getting older).

English springers are loving, open, nice and gentle dogs. They love humen and family life and they have very good sense of humour. These dogs love to have company and they do not like being alone. When they are left alone they might get bored and this might often cause damages to furniture, pee on floors all over your house, neighbours are complaining about barking etc. If you must be long days away from home for example because of the work, it might be better to get another dog for companion to your dog. Then springer does not have to be alone, while it has another playful and company loving creature with it. English springer spaniels are strong, active and calm from their mind. They are also quite easy to train and they also should get trained.

Springers love toys (many of them especially balls) and they are very playful dogs. Almost without exceptions all springers have game instinct, so do not be so surprised if springer does its "own trips" in forests. Sometimes they also may run away, but usually they stay in range of sound from their master. This game instinct is seen also from the carrying instict springers have. Springers love to carry different things in their mouth already as a puppy. Usually springers also love to swim and they enjoy to retrieve the thrown things to their master.

English springer spaniels get along very well with children and they do also know how to guard the house. It is just that quite often guarding is just keeping noice when someone coming, but this breed is not actually the best guarding dog when it usually is very friendly to strange people and dogs too. Even if springers do bark, it is rare of them to bark without a reason (well, sometimes this reason might be very very small, but anyway).

English springer is happy, unambitious and very friendly to all people and animals. This spaniel works independently and it is good companion dog but also a very good hunting dog. This breed cannot be said to be good guard dog, for this purpose it is better to find some other breed. English springer spaiel offers to its family lots of love, energy, intelligence and full dedication, but also the family must be ready to offer these same things to springer.
