The International English Springer Spaniel Symposium was this year arranged in breed origin country. The lovely ground for this event was the Pond Farm owned by Jan Fennell and Glenn Miller. This Symposium was participated by about 50 breed fanciers from England, United States, Australia, Norway, Sweden, France and Finland.
As panelists were this year Marie Merchant, Frank W. Bjerklund, Henriette Schmidt, Carolyn Muirhead and Christina Daniels. We enjoyed also a lectures by Dr. Jeff Sampson, Prof. Peter Bedford and Vet. Gill Averis. The moderator was David Shields.
We heard lectures from genetics, artificial inseminations, eye diseases in breed and of course also the breed standard interpretations by the panelists and lots more... And some themes cause also deeper discussions.
This time the symposium did not include any show (in Sweden 2004 there was also club show), but on Sunday there was a champion parade which was open to all English Springer champions. Parade included 13 dogs from UK and one from Ireland.
We truly enjoyed this event, which was a super opportunity to meet the breeders and breed fanciers in breed origin country, but also from other countries!
